Morocco - a photo journal

Updated: Apr 11

Sit back and enjoy the kaleidoscopic magic of Morocco from our recent tour.

Our recent spring Morocco tour was a curated “best of” all this beautiful country has to offer. My group and I touched almost every aspect of this wondrous North African kingdom. Here’s a photographic journey. For captions, hover your cursor over photos.

We penetrated far reaches of desert, coasts, and mountains.

Walked historical royal walled cities and ancient medinas.

2000 year old Volubilis! Jupiter, Roman god of thunder, made a special appearance in a dramatic cloudburst.

Immersed ourselves in an appreciation of outstanding textiles, arts, and crafts.

Met and learnt from artisans who create cherry buttons, Berber rugs, Fassi embroidery, zelige tile mosaic, pottery, and more.

Soaked in the visual delight that is Morocco, everywhere you look.

Dr Fatima, University of Meknes

During a fireside chat, a renowned lecturer from the University of Meknes enlightened us about Morocco’s women’s rights movement. Since 2004, women have progressively won more constitutional rights. This has spawned a thriving women-owned artisans business scene, the fruits of which we enjoyed.

Our accommodations, ranging from jewel box-like riads (heritage mansions) to a luxury tented camp . . . an attraction in their own right!

We really couldn’t leave without sampling every kind of perfectly spiced tajine and flaky cinnamon-dusted pastillas. Oh, and gallons of mint tea and freshly squeezed orange juice!

Many, many highlights but the best one had to be riding a camel in the Sahara!

A fellow traveller, and now friend, says, "Shila, our fearless leader, you are a dream tour organiser, always attentive, always wanting us to have the best memories. I am still processing all we experienced. Big thanks for the unforgettable adventure. I hope you keep Hicham (as guide) for the next lucky group to his beautiful country. So much to thank you for your spirit of generosity. Your infectious love of travel and curiosity are an inspiration." -- Jessica Bradley, Montreal, Q.C.

We will do it all over again in November 2024. Join us!
