In creating micro-label Aasmani, Arundhati Maitra was drawn to breathable, natural, organic fabrics that felt at home against one's skin. She insists on using natural dyes wherever possible, and focus on handwoven jamdani sarees, stoles, scarves and yardage; as well as shibori using natural indigo, madder, pomegranate, tea, and working directly with handloom weavers across two districts of Bengal. Arundhati works with a total of 10-12 weavers, and pays them whatever they ask.
